Living in Mauritius means making the choice to live better and take the time to enjoy this unique environment. Take the time to smile every day. But also take the time to play sports, share real moments of conviviality, etc.

MANY TAX BENEFITS

Mauritius offers many Tax incisive to encourage investors to settle on the island, while being respectful of international standards. The OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) has ranked Mauritius as one of the most “virtuous” countries in terms of taxation.

The sine qua non to enjoy these benefits is to have the status of tax resident. Since the country has signed a double taxation agreement with 43 countries, including France, this status gives rise to a number of tax advantages:

  • Income tax for both individuals and businesses is harmonized at 15%, and is paid in the country of tax residence,
  • There is no tax on inheritance tax and profits,
  • Dividends and other income on capital are exempt from tax.

For companies

  • There is no taxation on capital gains generated by companies,
  • There is no tax at source on interest and dividends,
  • No charges or constraints on the repatriation of the money generated by your activity (profits, dividends, capital),
  • Exemption from customs duties on equipment.

The fiscal year in Mauritius begins on July 1 of each year and ends on June 30 of the following year.

AN OPENING ON THE REST OF THE WORLD

Living in Mauritius does not mean living inward. The island is indeed ideally located between Africa, India, Asia, and Australia. Thanks to its international airport, it is only 4 hours from Durban, 7 hours from Perth, 6 hours from Mumbai, 7 hours from Singapore … The Indian Ocean opens up a multitude of new international destinations to discover.

And for those who already trade with Africa, Asia and India, take advantage of all the bilateral agreements concluded by the Mauritian government with these countries.

A MULTICULTURAL POPULATION

Even though Mauritius is an independent country, it has a definite advantage: it speaks French and English every day. There is no language barrier to interact with people on a daily basis and to move on the Island.

In addition, the time difference compared to Europe is extremely light: 3 hours ahead in winter and 2 hours in summer. An undeniable asset to adapt to your new schedules without too much difficulty.
